The yearning for children has been an inherent part of human nature since the beginning of time. Although birthrates in the United States have declined significantly in the past decades, the desire to have children has remained steady. A Gallup study from 2013 showed that more than half of Americans between the ages of 18-40 have children, and another 40% do not currently, but hope to have children someday. Only 6% of Americans aged 18-40 do not have, and do not want to have children, a number that has remained unchanged over the past decades, despite fluctuating birthrates.
Infertility is only one of the many factors contributing to the growing gap between actual and desired fertility—economic, societal and other health factors also play a part. However, the good news is that, in many cases, infertility issues are no longer a death knell for parental aspirations. New technologies, like home sperm tests, are making it possible for more couples to overcome infertility and realize their dream of becoming parents.
Today is #ParentsDay, and here at YO Sperm Test, we’re committed to doing everything that we can to help more couples have a reason to celebrate. We understand that the fertility journey, like parenthood, is often a joint endeavor, and #ParentsDay is a unique opportunity to celebrate parents together, rather than separately in the more popular Mother’s and Father’s Days. The commonality is particularly strong on the fertility journey—whether or not both partners have fertility issues, they both experience the emotional ups and downs that are an inherent part of the process. Therefore, we wanted to take a moment to recognize all parents, potential and actual, on this special day of gratitude and appreciation. We’re rooting for you!
