Memorial Day takes place today, and for families in mourning, this year may be especially challenging. Ceremonies have been canceled due to social distancing, and many families will spend the day separated.
Over 1,354,664 American soldiers have died in service throughout US history. The fallen soldiers and their families are our heroes. On Memorial Day, and throughout the year, we acknowledge the enormous sacrifice of those here and stand by them through recovery. We salute their loved ones who laid down their lives, protecting our country and thank them. In the words of Sgt. Major Bill Paxton, “May we never forget our fallen comrades. Freedom isn’t free.”
