Luvving Day

Loving Day and Luvving Day

Today is Loving Day, and the topic feels current in America and around the world as we face new internal and external challenges exchanging with each other.

Loving Day is a celebration of the 1967 United States Supreme Court ruling for Loving vs. the State of Virginia, which struck down all interracial marriage restrictions in America. The ban was in place mainly to deny marriage rights between non-whites and whites until the Warren Court ruled unanimously that these state laws were unconstitutional. The Chief Justice, Earl Warren, spoke on the majority decision; “the freedom to marry, or not marry, a person of another race resides with the individual, and cannot be infringed by the State.” June 12th is widely recognized as the most prominent interracial rights date of the year, but as Stevie Wonder famously sang, “Love’s in need of Luvv Today” for this year’s celebration.

YO Home Sperm Test would like to bring attention to this Day, and Luvv, amidst these tense times, and send a shout-out to all the mixed families and Luvvers who share a heart but not a skin shade.
